Founded by design and build expert Adam St. Marie in 2015, Oat Design + Build has grown rapidly due to our fresh perspective.

At Oat we believe that our surrounding environment impacts the way we feel, think, and behave. Our mission is to design and build home and business spaces that promote the enjoyment of solitude and community, productivity and rest, efficiency and beauty.  We see your spaces through a lens of potential and creativity. We commit to excellence, both in the final results, AND in the client experience. Oat is passionate about renewing homes, businesses, and communities -- inside and out.

Adam St. Marie - Founder, CEO As a fourth generation carpenter, Adam has been immersed in the design and build field for as long as he can remember. As a young boy, Adam could be found spending his free time joyfully drawing floor plans for cruise ships. For eight years prior to founding Oat, Adam worked as an operations manager for a high-end construction company based in North Shore, Chicago. Throughout his experience in the field, Adam saw a tremendous need for a design and build company that focuses on client’s enjoyment of the experience, as much as the final results. So, Adam founded Oat. Adam built Oat on the premise that relationships are the most important "things" we have. "We design intentional spaces that encourage you to be at peace and present with the people that matter most to you." This focus on relationships also carries over into the care that Adam takes with our clients and their projects. It shows, and they love him for it. Adam personally oversees all projects and leads Oat's Design and Build Teams.

Bethany St. Marie - Fine Arts Assistance Bethany has an eye for the finer details. She discovered her niche in the arts while working as a successful local florist. They are what we call a "dream team." Together, they run Oat and raise two sweet, wild, little boys.

Michala Dinkle - Executive Administrator Michala has always believed that nothing is impossible with a creative strategy and a logical plan. She graduated from a state university with her bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, and Spanish. What makes her degree especially unique, is that she earned it assistance, loan, and debt-free, through waitress-earned tips alone. Her tactical mind set and her work ethic are a deadly combination. Michala worked as a second language teacher for children and adults for four years before finding her perfect fit at Oat. At Oat, Michala does the behind-the-scenes work. She is responsible for Oat’s business strategy and vision implementation. She leads the Administrative, Marketing, and Client Experience Teams.
